Kira Spivak, Founder and CFO
Kira Spivak, founder of VenturePack finance, has been easing the minds of CEOs and their investors for 20 years in Denver/Boulder, Colorado and beyond. After working successfully for 10 years as an outsourced CFO with her company CFO Services, LLC, Kira observed that most often, outsourced CFO firms are hired for a financial strategy piece and accounting is often further outsourced to a bookkeeper or some other accounting source, which left her missing the quality and comraderie she enjoyed with running a motivated mid-sized company accounting department.
Frustrated with a lack of systems control, quality data, extended timeframes, and impressed with new financial technology, Kira believed Denver/Boulder startup, small and mid-sized businesses needed VenturePack Finance.
Kira’s voracious appetite for learning and her love of a challenge is evident in her career path, which began in law firms at 17 yrs. old, prior to joining an acquisition investment/management team that managed portfolio company investments, such as Yellow Cab of Denver and the Vail/Beaver Creek Jet Center. The same team later formed an SBIC fund where Kira held positions as controller and financial analyst. and where she interviewed hundreds of entrepreneurs. Ms. Spivak went on to gain mergers and acquisitions experience as senior financial analyst and a buy-side representative for Denver-Based W.G. Nielsen & Company (an investment bank). Kira performed transaction analysis and due diligence for clients in the energy, healthcare, environmental reclamation, telecom, consumer goods, construction and other industry sectors. As an outsourced CFO, Ms. Spivak advised and negotiated a management buyout for a client company, which subsequently quadrupled in size to $35 million in revenues and 200+ employees with Kira in the role of part-time CFO.
Some of Kira’s previous clients include: DiningOut Magazine, Skirt Sports, Wilderness Exchange, LuxuryLite, Alpine World Ascents, Full Cycles, Headwaters Merchant Bank, Natural Foodworks, Denargo Capital, Foraker Labs, Global Geo Supplies, Renewable Choice Energy, Rocky Mountain Excavating and Concrete, Inc., Coalition and MHM backpacks, Primal Wear, Advision, Channel Maven Consulting, Community Funded, and more.
Kira is a contributor to CFO Magazine, Mastercard’s “Innovative” blog for businesses and has been recognized as an industry expert in digital media and print (American Express, Citibank, Sports Global Source, Snews). Ms. Spivak recently enjoyed being a panel speaker on “Business Divorces” at Fort Collins startup week.
When she’s not taking care of her clients, connecting in the business community, and motivating her team, she can most likely be found outside, biking, skiing, climbing, hiking, and playing sports with her two teens. Kira is an active community member and spokesperson for the Colorado Advantage Business Council, the Colorado Mountain Club, and Volunteer Treasurer for the Colorado Conservatory for Jazz Arts.
